I have for a while been wanting to paint a realistic painting with a white frame, like I did in this piece.
I like the contrast between a detailed nature and the simple, white square/frame. And I love white <3
I feel this white frame makes the painting a little more glamorous, and a little MORE ME, and it goes well with the way I sign my artworks.
I'm considering making a series based on this piece, but time will tell..
Last summer (the summer of 2024) we were on a family vacation, traveling in Norway, and I shot the reference photo for this piece when I was on a SUP )stand up padle board. I shot a lot of photos like this, chasing the perfect photo to paint, and I ended up combining two photos, where I liked the sky in one of them, and the ocean in the other.
I love to bring nature into my home, and therefore the name of this piece is; Ocean window.
